a little bit about myself, and where i live.

I have lived in Vermont for my whole life ( 17 years.) I am a junior in High school, and I really enjoy playing field hockey, swimming in the summer time and baking desserts. I am not a huge fan of the snow, and I don't like artichokes. I thought that by joining this program I would have a chance to see another persons perspective and their ideas. I am super excited and can't wait to meet everyone!!

Intro

I like to listen to music, draw, read, go shopping, ride horses, and hanging out with my friends. I also like staying up late and watching movies. This exchange intrested me a lot because I want to get a chance to work with people on the other side of the world. I am also intresed in the culture of Japan and their way of living. This exchange project is an amazing oppertunity, and I am very thankful that I am getting the change to participate in it.

My introduction

Hi! I'm Japanese high school student.
Nice to meet you! (。・_・。)ノ
I will tell you hobbies and why I took part in this program.
I like listening to music, watching movie, playing sports,
talking with my school friends(everyone is so crazy). (*^^)v

The reason why took part in this program is I thought it is big "chance".
I will be able to think more deeply about environmental problems.
Also I can communicate with American students.
I like talking and English, so I am exciting!! ((o(^-^)o))

Interests and hobbies

I like writing, listening to music, hanging out with my friends, reading(love manga), exploring, swimming(in the summer obviously). I also enjoy sleeping and staying up late. I entered into this program because the environmental aspect of the project interested me a great deal. I also thought that meeting people from the other side of the world would be fascinating. Learning about their culture and maybe seeing Japan outside of pictures got me very excited.
I have also taken it upon myself to learn some Japanese before the program gets going at full speed.

Getting Started

Mt. Mansfield from Vermont's Champlain Valley

Hi everyone-

I am very excited about getting this program and blog started!

Contributors: please begin by posting a brief introduction. What are your hobbies and interests? Why are you participating in this exchange? What would you like to share about your home region? Over the next week, please post images of housing and the environment in your home region.

My background: I am the Executive Director of Green Across the Pacific (GATP). We organize and implement Environmental Leadership Exchange Programs, primarily in North America and Asia. I have a background in biology and education. I taught in public and private high schools for 20 years. I founded GATP in 2000, and now work both for GATP and Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. My wife and I are raising two boys. One is a sophomore at the University of Vermont, and the other is a freshman at our local high school. In addition to my work, I enjoy music, reading, biking, cross-country skiing, gardening and cooking.

I'm really looking forward to working with all of you!
