Welcome to the 2012 Tottori-Vermont Youth Environmental Exchange!!

Hello everyone-

This is Peter Lynch, Director of Green Across the Pacific.

I am really excited to welcome you to this year's exchange. After you introduce yourselves to each other, we will begin focusing on food and food systems. Please post photographs with brief description of a breakfast, lunch and dinner that you have enjoyed recently with your brief explanations and comments.

During the next several weeks, you will engage in a dialogue about food, food sources and culture through this blog. Here are some prompts that you can respond to to begin the conversation.

-Make a list of 8-10 different food items that are grown or produced within your state or prefecture.
-Are there any foods that your state or prefecture is famous for? What are they?
-What is your favorite locally produced food?
-Describe a meal from your state or prefecture that has cultural, historical, community or family significance to it.
-What are some food crops that are grown within your state or prefecture?
-What are some fish and animal products from your state or prefecture?
-Is there a food item that is not produced locally that you would like to see grown or produced in your state or prefecture?
-Is there a food item that you like that cannot be produced in your state or prefecture? Where does it come from and how is it transported to your state or prefecture?
-Does your school serve locally produced food? Do you like it?

I am looking forward to seeing all of you next month.

Best wishes- Peter
