Getting Started in 2011

Hi everyone-

I am very excited about getting the 2011 program and blog started!

Contributors: please begin by posting a brief introduction. What are your hobbies and interests? Why are you participating in this exchange? What would you like to share about your home region? Over the next week, please post images of the environment in your home region. Please also go to www.gatp.org and register as a student.

My background: I am the Executive Director of Green Across the Pacific (GATP). We organize and implement Environmental Leadership Exchange Programs, in North America and Asia. I have a background in biology and education. I taught in public and private high schools for 20 years. I founded GATP in 2000, and now work both for GATP and Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. My wife and I are raising two boys. One is a junior at the University of Vermont, and the other is a sophomore at our local high school. In addition to my work, I enjoy music, reading, biking, cross-country skiing, gardening and cooking.

I'm really looking forward to working with all of you!

It's winter, and that means my sons are cross country skiing. Ian is approaching the finish line at Trapps in Stowe, Vermont, several weeks ago.
